A New Look At Life

After getting out of ICU and the hospital I have a new look at life. I see differenly than before I had GBS.
I take time to tell my wife how much I love and appreciate her and for all that she has done for me and our boys. Every morning, when the boys wake me up, the first thing I do is kiss my wife and then my boys and tell how much I love them.
As I enjoy a cup of coffee, I pray to God, thanking Him for the day, life and ask for his help to get me though another day. I cherish the one on one time with the Father. I spend time feasting on His word, eating it up, it's taste is that taste of breakfast for my soul.
On the second cup of coffee, I ask my wife her plans for the day; I kiss her and if I free time, I spend meditating in the Spirit asking the Holy Spirit to help me and guide me in my sermon preperation. The Holy Spirit guides me and works with me as I plan topics, passages, and life application. I have come to really apprecaite the Holy Spirit more.
I enjoy visiting widows and listening to their life stories and them sharing their faith it is so encouraging to my faith.
On my 3rd cup of coffee I start reading and blogging, posting on blogs (that explains a lot of things :-) ). I am striving to slow down and not take things so personal when it come to my children, and other things in life. I am just trying to enjoy the life that God has given me.
I work at a small congregation of about 35 members so I have come to apprecaite the men who are ready and willing to serve at a moments notice if I am not feeling well or will say prayers, wait on the table, read scripture, teach class, and preach when I'm gone.
I look at night and take in the beautiful creation that God has made and give Him glory as I see all the countless stars in the sky. At night, I tuck my boys in and ask them the question, "You know how much I love you?" They say, "More than the whole wide world."

Hi preacherman,

Your example preaches a great sermon without a word being spoken. I imagine the spoken sermons are pretty great also.

It's funny that it takes a life changing experience to make you look at the real reason for living. I guess that is why they call it 'live changing.' DUH!

Thanks for the post here. Good thoughts that we need to receive and live in.

Yes, I'm a lover of coffee as well. I have been moving more and more to decaf, though I still have some caffeine when I'm tired, particularly in the morning.

cwinwc,
Yes, we need to slow down and enjoy the life, the abundant life that God has given us. Please let, every Christian young and old cherish every moment that God has blessed them with and make the most of every opportunity to see the good in every situation. In the negative world let us see the positive things around us. Let us make a difference and influence the world as Jesus did, one person at a time; whether it be a son, daughter, wife, mother, niegher, or stanger, and even enemy. God has given us abundant life. May we enjoy it. Amen.

Nancy,
Sounds like how I use to be.
I like coffee black, or with creamer (Freach Vinilla, Carmel, Hazelnut, etc & 1/2 and 1/2). I like it some days with sugar and some days I like it without. I like it somedays with equal too. Tastes pretty good.

I love esspresso.
So, if you like strong coffee, buy a French Press.
Or, if you want to just try it first, go to a coffee house that offers, French Press. It is great! :-) mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.............

Ted,
Thank you for your kind words.
I have changed since being in ICU.
My relationship with God is stronger. I love my wife and family more. I am striving to be a better husband and father. I am among all things living in the will of God. Striving to do His perfect, and please will in everything I do. He is what Christianity is all about. Relationship. Wow.

As well as coffee, decaf. I'll have to think about that one. :-)

Again thank you so much for you encouragement, friendship, and your wisdom from your blog. I love it and greatly appreciate it. Keep up the great work Ted.

I hope every one will understand will slow down and understand that life is about having a relationship with God. God wants to give us an abundant life of earth. It doesn't mean wealth. It means to cherish your relationship with God,your family, your friends, your church, the opporitunities that God provides to share your faith. Slow down to enjoy the creation of God. Remember his voice was in the gentle whisper. Even though I feel like I have been through hell an back. I have a new relationship with the Almighty and look at life. I am thankful for the what God has done and continues to do. Even though I continue to suffer. I will trust in Him.
