Thoughts on Faith Part 6!

How do our actions affect our faith? Do they work together? How? What is the benefit of faith and actions working together? Are we saved by faith or works? Do people confuse faith and works? Why? If believers actions don't back up their faith, what does that say about their faith?
What message does it send to non-believers when Christians actions don't match their faith?

What do you think?

while we are not perfect I don't see how our actions can't match our faith, at least as what we are trying while falling short that is.

James said that faith without works or deeds is dead.
Here we can see that there is a faith which is mixed with action.

If we believe and have faith that we can do something great and act upon it, then we have faith and action accomplished.

The problem is that it doesn't distinguish us from the pagans.

They have the same kind of faith who produces great results, for instance building a 1 km tall building etc.

I think that there is another kind of faith, not a natural faith but a supernatural faith.
This faith which is 'directed to God and in God' and is a faith which defies the intellect and the natural possibilities and concepts.
That faith will say to the mulberry tree, 'Be uprooted and planted in the sea,' and it will obey you. (Luke 17:6), the condition is that we do not doubt. (Mat. 21:21)

Thanks Nancy for sharing your thoughts on this subject. I don't think anyone can completely understand faith.

Preacherman;
The Lord Jesus has given to everyone a measure of faith for prophesy, serve, teach, encourage and contributing etc. (Rom. 12:3-8)

But there is the supernatural faith, a mountain moving faith and that "faith cometh by hearing and hearing of the word of God." (Rom.10:17)

Note; it doesn't say, 'READING the Bible and by READING the word of God.'
And it doesn't mean, somebody reading the Scripture to you and you hear it. NO!

It means that you must hear Jesus speaking to you personally.
Just like Peter said in the boat, "LORD, if it is you, tell me to come to you on the water", Peter heard the Lord and he walked on the water. (Mat.14:28)

Imagine; a fisherman putting his foot overboard, surely he would know what would happen next.

But by faith Peter walked on water.
In the supernatural all things are possible (Luke 1:37 and NOTHING shall be impossible for you. (Mat.17:20) But that is on the condition that you do not doubt.

Kinney; we all have a corrosive enemy and that is UNBELIEF.
Unbelief diminishes faith till it is virtually non existent.

Concerning faith;
It is of great importance to know in whom we put our faith.

I know that I repeating myself often in that matter.
But if you have faith in any other person then the Lord Jesus Christ, then your faith is useless and it profits you nothing.
Faith has to produce GOOD for us, and it must be a benefit.

If you have faith in a rabbit foot, totem pole, Jehovah, Allah, the Siamese triplet gods (Trinity), Yahweh or in yourself, then your faith produces nothing.

All those gods are not the Lord your God Jesus Christ, they all are false gods (devils).
They cannot save, forgive sins or give you a new birth or life abundant.
If you believe in anyone of them, then you perish with them.

But if you turn wholeheartedly to the Lord Jesus Christ and pray, worship, believe and listen only to Him (Jesus), then you will NEVER fail! In fact it is impossible to fail.
Because Jesus is the good Shepherd and He will lead you into all the truth. When you put your faith in Him alone, then you will SEE and EXPERIENCE the supernatural manifested in your life.

The supernatural faith is only to the extent of your faith, believe and trust in Jesus Christ our Lord.
I do not lie, but tell you the truth.
Do not follow or believe those smooth talking apostates who lead you away from the Lord Jesus to another person, identity or spirit, not even when they preach it from the pulpit in your Church, but rather rebuke such man or woman in Jesus Name.
Lots of love
Paul

An interesting thought;
When we visit a mental asylum, most of them believe in God and a great number of them even believe in Jesus.
Surely we must wonder about that?
"IF" God really loves them, don't you think that He should do something about their condition?

Many of those people belonged to all different denominations and Churches, and not one of those men even lifted a finger to set those people free.

I wonder whether they read their Bibles.
Perhaps they might read the Bible, but do they believe it?

(Mark 16:17) Jesus said; those signs shall follow to those who BELIEVE, in my name they WILL drive out demons!

What! Demons, demon possessed; Oh no! That is a dirty word, we now call it (politically correct) mentally imbalanced.
All those mentally imbalanced people we send them to the psychiatrist, since Jesus could not set them free, and if that doesn't work, we send them to the doctors, since doctor Jesus could not heal them either, as the last resort we send them to a mental asylum.
There they are out of our way, because they are an embarrassment to our NICE Church.

When Jesus comes back will He find FAITH? (Luke 18:8)
Brothers and sisters, we have too many NICE Churches everywhere.

We are saved by faith and not by works, but we are created in Christ to do good works (Eph. 2:8-10). There isn't a quota of works we have to meet in order to be saved, or stay saved, but a lifestyle of discipleship is what the Lord requires. And a person of faith will live that life. Works is the evidence that one has faith to begin with. I find it interesting that the works James 2 mentons are specifically works that serve those in need. It's all about love--the greatest commandments. Love God and love your neighbor. Loving your neighbor is the most concrete way to love God and the most authentic expression of faith.

You sure ask a lot of questions.

I do not live up to the standards of my faith... but, lucky for me, grace covers me each and every time I fail. My behaviors are guided by what I have faith in...whether it is God or my flesh. My personal failures to live up to my standards say I am human, just like everyone else.

I honestly don't care what others think about my ability or inability to live up to my own standards. NonChristians are confused and scornful even if I live up to them (see New Testament about a perfect guy who was crucified). Either way, what nonbelievers believe about me is actually no concern of mine. Let them believe (or not) what they are going to believe.

It's actually the Christians out there that give me more trouble than the nons. Self-righteousness has a problem with others failures because it is built on a fragile belief that we can actually be perfect and that there is something wrong with a Christian who sins. I sin. I am cool with that. I am not perfect but I am known by someone who is. I am cool with forgiveness and grace. That was why Jesus died in the first place.

Wade Tannehill;
Perhaps that might be a slip of your tongue; but we are not saved by faith, we are saved by grace and only by grace alone.

You said; "It's all about love…. the greatest commandments. Love God and love your neighbor."

Even though it's true what you have said, but that is a broad statement with not much meaning.

All Muslims, Jehovah Witnesses, Mormons, Catholics and Hare Krishna, they ALL love God and love their neighbors and even the adulteress loves the adulterer.

But what distinguishes you from all those pagans above?
What's the difference?

I think that we who believe in the true God must only love the Lord Jesus Christ with a love that is NOT divided between different identities.
That and only that will differentiate us from the pagans.

The greatest and foremost of all the Commandments is this, 'Hear you Christian people "the Lord our God, the Lord is one." (Mark 12:29)
If we love Jesus, then the love of God has been shed abroad in our hearts to love our neighbors and that love is not our own love but it is the love of God.
Paul

Paul,
It is my personal belief that demon possession and mental illness are two different things completely. God has bless his children with doctors and specialists. He works his wonders though us and our abilities, talents and gifts. Paul I like Wade believe that we are a saved by grace. How? Through faith! This is what the Bible teaches. I also agree with wade that the two commands that we must follow as believers is love God and neighbor as yourself. The entire ten commandments were based on these given in the N.T. Faith when it boils down to it is individualistic. I am not going to be judged by anyone elses faith but my own. I think we as believers need to understand is that we will all have different beliefs, practices, opinion, political ideologies, yet our faith can united and change the lives of ourselves and others.

I agree with you brother. Thanks you so much for share your faith with us here in this disucssion. Like I have said befoe in thsese series on faith, I think when it boils down to it, we work on our own individualistic faith.
