To Question or Not To Question

As you can tell I love to ask questions? I think it is something that instilled in all of us. Even my boys ask me, why?, how, what, when, constantly. Of course, I think it is great. I want them to seek, to think, learn.

I do think for some us, we at some point in our lives just give up, stop questioning and take things as they are or at face value. I can't. I refuse to not question.

So, why do some not question politics, social issues, religion or God? Why are some afraid to ask tough questions? What does it do for us as humans when we question things and situations around us? What happens to us if we just believe things that people tell us whether it is about God, religion, morality, politics, without question? Why do so many refuse to question? Has the Church and Christians in general hindered the nature of asking questions? Or even questioning God, the church, doctrine? Has the church and Christians been known to make people feel guilty or bad for questioning? Can their be negative consequences to organizations, institutions, groups, individuals who hinder, suppress, or guilt people into not asking the tough questions about God and life? If so what are they? Is it good for people to think for themselves when it comes to religion, God, polotics, or any number of issues in life? Does it help people spiritually when we question instead of just taking people at their word about God and religion or any other issue in life? Is it bad or wrong to question? Why or why not? Should we question? Do you question? If so, what, how, why? when?

What do you think?

Those who have faith do not need to question... Those who want to be led do not question... for those that know it... no need to question.
However I think everyone questions... some more vocal than others...
I question and there are times when I don't...
Interesting post!

I enjoy your blog because you ask the tough questions. It gets me to think and out of my comfort zone. I am trying to question more. Think more. It has helped my faith greatly.

How can we "Prove all things; hold fast that which is good" if we never ask questions?

Keith is right. We should ask questions.
Doesn't even Jesus tell us to ask and seek? Just sayin.

Hi - great post. Personally I think it's really important to question things. Not everything in the church - or life for that matter - is on the up and up! Sometimes we have ways of thinking that we believe unquestioningly but on further examination don't really square with our faith.

I think it takes a lot of courage to ask questions. Many years ago I was a political leader. I still have the video of my first campaign commercial where I promised to ask the tough questions. I think that is still relevant today.

Thanks again for an excellent post!

I think it is great to ask questions. Think for yourself. I found that you can't find out what is wrong with things if you don't ask questions. I am a former Catholic now non-denominational because I asked questions. Lots of questions. Yes, I was made to feel guilty when asking. The priest didn't like it. But I continued and will continue to ask questions.

Asking questions is a sign of a curious mind. A mind that is no longer curious is quickly headed for non-existence. Stagnation is death

I found that most of my Christian friends are okay with not asking questions. It makes many of them feel comfortable. No one likes change especially in reguards to faith, religion, and doctrinal practices.

Questioning the leaders forces them to become better persons and leaders, since they have to be prepared and ready to answer. The only leaders that don´t like to be questioned are the ones that shouldn´t be in that position in the first place.
Questioning has nothing to do with lack of faith. For me it is a need of getting more knowledge and be more prepared. It has nothing to do with whether I am not sure of my beliefs.

Hello there! I know this is kind of off topic but I was wondering which blog platform are you using for this website?
I'm getting sick and tired of Wordpress because I've had problems with hackers and I'm looking at options for another platform. I would be awesome if you could point me in the direction of a good platform.

A motivating discussion is definitely worth comment. I
do believe that you should write more on this subject, it might not be a taboo matter but usually people don't talk about such subjects. To the next! Best wishes!!
