Why is it so hard for churches to change?

I know that there are many churches that headed down the road of death. Someone consist primarily of older members, some consist of Christians who refuse to do the things that cause life and health of a congregation. So, why if a congregation is headed that way refuse to do the things that will keep them alive? Why do some refuse to change in order cause the growth spiritual and numerically? Have you experienced or seen this in a congregation that you attended or ministered? Are you experiencing this now? What has your church done or currently doing to keep the congregation from dying, healthy and thrive? Why are so many churches and Christians afraid of Change? Isn't change and growth apart of life? I was recently at a church who desired to reach out to younger families but can sense fear of doing the things that will cause the church to reach those intended. How can churches or those Christians over-come that fear?

There are many "reasons" why it is hard for churches to change. Some literally do not know how to change. It is beyond their scope of thinking. For many their circle of friends and aquaintences go no further than the church. For some, especially older congregations, they do not have the energy to change. Probably the single greatest reason is fear.

That is because they are dead.
To a dead corpse you can say whatever you like, he will never change. You can kick them beat them or teach them as long as you like they will never change, because they are dead! You can dress them up, shake them and combine it with loud music, but they will never come alive.
They may have a reputation that they are alive, but the truth is they are dead (Rev.3:1).
When a group of believers come together in fellowship, and the very moment they organize and elect a pastor, reverend or whatever kind of a leader over them, then that assemble is in a spiral decline to death.
Why?
They don't like the Lord Jesus to be their Pastor (or good Sheppard (Mica 5:4), so they throw Him out of their church and elect a pastor from among themselves, a man or woman with charisma and excellent organizing talent to be the head over their church.
By doing so, they build their own church and teach them to do and believe whatever is right in their own eyes.

On the other hand;
There is a Church which is constantly changing from glory to glory.
That is the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ where Jesus is their Pastor, Reverend and head of His Church (John 10:14 and Eph.5:23).
Everyone in His Church had been given life and life abundant and they can never die, and from their innermost being flows rivers of living waters and they shall thirst no more.

If you have ears to hear the call of the Lord Jesus, then ditch your dead church and come to the Lord Jesus Christ and He will give you rest.
Anyone who is in Christ is a new creation, old things have passed away behold all things are new.
Kind regards
Paul
